We are looking for an experienced Lead Teacher to join our team and provide leadership and guidance to our teachers.
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the Highscope curriculum, providing instruction to students, and managing the classroom environment.
The Lead Teacher should have a passion for teaching, strong communication skills, and the ability to motivate and inspire students and other staff.

Qualified applicants:
* Will pass the various background checks required by LARA through MDHHS and Michigan State Police Department.
* will be willing to be punctual and have minimal absences at work.
* Using developmentally appropriate practice methods, the applicant will establish a daily routine, plan daily activities and lesson plans for the children in the classroom according to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needs.
* The right applicant will have knowledge of what and how to take anecdotal notes and will use them to conduct child assessments throughout the year and input them into COR.
* Build & Maintain healthy & friendly relationships with children, staff & families.
* Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for all
* Remain in compliance with licensing standards and GSRP requirements at all times
* Help to train all volunteers and assistant teachers.
* Will work with the Assistant and Paraprofessional staff to create a team balanced working classroom.
General/Professionalism
* Attend meetings, conferences, training, and any center functions set by the Center Director, First UMC Childcare Center, and GSRP;
* Remains current in state requirements required by law- First Aid, CPR, and all training hours; Completes 24 hours of professional development yearly
* Contributes ideas in helping First UMC Childcare Center grow and better service our children and families;
* Will conduct home visits, conferences, and take observation notes for COR.
Qualifications:
* Lead Teacher’s must meet GSRP qualifications upon hire.
A Lead Teacher will be considered credentialed for the position with ANY of the following:
* A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement or PK-3 endorsement; or
* A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching.
The transcript will document a major, rather than a minor; in child development or early childhood education.
* Will accept the minimum requirements of an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education with minimum 3 years of experience teaching in the classroom.
Candidate will need to accept to be on a compliance plan to continue their education to get a Bachelor's degree.
* Be at least 19 years of age
* CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certified or obtain upon hire
* Have knowledge of the Highscope Curriculum and COR preferred but not required.
