*Solar Construction Project Manager*
*Opportunity Overview*
Ethos is seeking a passionate and results oriented Site Construction Project Manager for a leading renewables developer.
This role provides high visibility within Ethos’ rapidly developing renewables platform business, and for our customer, a developer with a 10+ GW renewable portfolio buildout planned over next five years.
The first assignment is on a 150 MW solar development, with multiple opportunities for growth and development with both Ethos and owner.
The Site Construction Project Manager (SCPM) will represent Ethos Distributed Solutions and our customer on a full range of site related utility-scale solar construction issues.
This includes monitoring all aspects of site mobilization and construction work, including managing the EPC Contractor and all other equipment and services supply agreements.
The SCPM will also work with Ethos in establishing a team that includes two additional project engineers to assist in site management.
*Job description* *Primary Responsibilities (onsite leadership and direction): * * Represent owner in all site related management matters.
Collaborate with owner’s team including Project Director, Engineering Manager, Legal Counsel, and Controller (all offsite) to meet overall project schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
Proactively resolve issues prior to onset and troubleshoot, and quickly problem solve unforeseen issues as they occur.
* Provide overall onsite leadership, communication and direction to EPC contractors, associated subcontractors, key equipment suppliers, landowners and local stakeholders, and government and regulating authorities and approval agencies.
Coordinate and lead overall site development plan.
* Actively and energetically lead site team through all key phases of project, including initial mobilization, planning, active construction, and demobilization activities.
* Proactively plan and execute all efforts mitigating schedule and budget overruns.
*Detailed Responsibilities:* * Work with owner’s safety team to drive safety culture and establish and maintain a safe operating environment.
* Work with all stakeholders in developing and implementing effective safety procedures including hazard identification, JSA development, etc.
* Participate in project safety audits and Zero Injury Safety Program * Oversee and coordinate project milestones and ensure contractors, vendors, and sub-contractors adhere to strict guidelines and procedures.
* Manage workflow along with budget to achieve success and hit project deadlines with minimal injuries, violations, recordables, or costly damages to property and equipment.
* Communicate and plan responsibly and professionally with contractors in the field and landowners.
* Proactively review drawings, diagrams, procedures and plans to ensure all aspects of the project and job are going to produce a successful outcome.
* Prioritize day-to-day activities to meet deadlines and project milestones.
* Work with key contractors through changes, technical challenges, and delays.
Develop recovery plans where feasible.
Document need for all change orders or provide documentation for rebuttal of change orders.
* Work with owner’s team and key contractors in minimizing and addressing scope changes with associated cost and schedule impacts.
* Collaborate with all parties to identify opportunities to improve cost and schedule.
* Review and maintain project reporting and records.
* Represents Ethos Distributed Solutions professionally with general contractor, subcontractors, vendors, and local officials.
* Willing to relocate to project location every 12-30 months.
* Assist Ethos with building out large-scale solar O&M and construction crews as we grow and expend.
*Education, Training and Skills Required:* * Ten years utility scale solar and/or battery storage experience, ideally across multiple inverter platforms.
* Passion for results and impact, with successful track record of execution within engineering or construction related projects.
* 2-year or 4-year technical degree or equivalent work experience and training.
* General knowledge of civil, mechanical, and electrical construction principles.
* Experience building and managing successful teams * Ability to relocate to project sites during construction.
Projects range from 12 to 18+ months.
First project planned June 2024.
* Deep expertise in budgeting, preparing proposals, and financials management * Knowledge in standard safety operating procedures and trainings regarding OSHA, NFPA, CPR/First Aid/AED, and Environmental guidelines.
*Additional Skills* * Working knowledge of solar farm operations and maintenance * Knowledge in specialized tooling, components, and materials used in the solar and battery storage industries * Electrical, civil, and mechanical background exposure * Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PDF, and other management tools.
* Ability to be on-site for long hours to ensure all contractors and vendors arrive and leave the project safely and on schedule.
