Our client, a premier manufacturer and distributor of axles, suspension, brakes, doors, venting products, trailer parts and accessories, and towing components serving the commercial trailer, RV, heavy-duty, marine, agriculture, and manufactured housing markets, has an opportunity for *a Plant HSE Manager (Health, Safety and Environmental) *at our manufacturing facility located in *Fremont, Indiana *_.
_ *Essential Duties and Responsibilities* The Plant HSE Manager provides leadership and coordination of activities related to the company's health, safety, and environmental program, including performance of the following essential duties: * Developing and maintaining a variety of safety and environmental programs, policies and procedures that will ensure all associates are in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
* Developing and implementing a program to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses, including area assessments, injury investigations and clear, measurable goals.
* Correcting working conditions, using knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and safety standards, develops loss control programs, and devises methods to evaluate safety progresses.
* Assessing share, and leverage HSE best practices across sites.
* Establishing, implementing, and maintaining all Environmental and Safety Management systems in accordance with ISO 14001/ISO 18001, reporting to top management on performance, and recommend improvements.
* Serving as the interface between local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, corporate and any insurance carrier representatives in order to ensure plant compliance.
* Managing plant's environmental and OSHA regulatory reporting and record keeping requirements.
* Creating and managing budgets for HSE activities including consulting and testing, waste removal, safety equipment, safety recognition activities, etc.
* Leading investigations on environmental non-compliance, safety non-compliance, and root cause incidents and provide urgent response to operational issues.
* Leading implementations and use of team implemented problem solving.
* Conducting site audits and evaluate plant's compliance with environmental regulations and identify areas of improvements.
* Implementing environmental solutions and drive changes in manufacturing processes/systems that lead to reduction in environmental waste streams.
* Managing worker's compensation claims.
* Leading safety, HSE, and awareness program trainings.
* Performing other tasks, duties or special projects as directed.
*Health and Safety expertise:* * Behavior based safety, preferably DuPont STOP * Chemical hazard communication * Contractor safety * Confined space entry * Electrical safety * Emergency response planning * Ergonomics * Fall protection * Hazardous energy control - Lock Out/Tag Out * Hearing conservation * Incident investigation * Indoor air quality/industrial hygiene * Injury reporting and analysis * Job hazard analysis and risk assessments * Machine guarding * Personal protective equipment * Powered industrial vehicles * Safety programs and awareness and OSHA compliance *Environmental expertise:* * Sustainable processes/recycling * Solid and hazardous waste management * Wastewater and storm water management, permitting, compliance, and controls * Air emission management, permitting, compliance, and controls * Pollution prevention and resource conservation *Qualifications:* * Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable degree is required * Minimum 5 years of HSE experience in industry is required * An equivalent in combination of education and experience will be considered *We care for our people.
