_ *Job Overview: The Burma Center is seeking a dedicated and dynamic After-School Program Instructor to * implement an innovative in-person after-school program funded by a grant.
The program will run for 20 weeks, with students meeting four times a week for two hours each session.
The target audience is 20 middle and high school students, with a focus on fostering academic excellence, social-emotional learning, and community engagement.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experience of participants by integrating the Michigan Out-of-School Time (MOST) Standard of Quality guidelines and the organization's unique approach.
The Program Instructor plays a vital role in providing high-quality educational support to students in an after-school setting.
This position involves developing and implementing engaging academic curriculum activities, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting the overall development of students.
*Responsibilities: * 1.
Curriculum Development & Implementation: * Design and develop age-appropriate academic enrichment activities and lesson plans in literacy, science, and math.
* Align activities with core curriculum standards and educational goals.
* Effectively deliver instructional content to students in small group settings.
* Utilize varied teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
* Integrate experiential and real-world applications through reading challenges, guided reading sessions, science experiments, and practical math applications.

*Student Assessment and Support* * Monitor and assess student progress and performance through informal observations and formal assessments.
* Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress to parents.
* Provide one-on-one tutoring to students who require additional support.
* Identify individual learning needs and tailor tutoring sessions accordingly.

*Student Engagement:* * Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
* Implement effective behavior management techniques to ensure a focused learning atmosphere.
* Develop and implement mentorship activities, team-building exercises, and peer-to-peer support initiatives.
* Lead workshops on leadership skills, conflict resolution, goal setting, and decision- making.
* Facilitate community engagement activities, including volunteer opportunities, attendance at cultural events, and community projects.

*Parental Engagement:* * Foster positive relationships with parents and guardians.
* Provide regular updates on student progress and share strategies for continued support at home.

Enrichment Activities: * Plan and organize daily recreation, sports, and fitness activities, in accordance with MOST recommendations.
* Supervise open gym sessions, friendly competitions, cultural dance lessons, nature walks, arts and crafts, and field trips.
* Incorporate physical activities to ensure at least 20% of daily program time is dedicated to recreation.
* Integrate creative and interactive enrichment activities that enhance the academic experience.
* Plan and organize educational projects, presentations, or events.
*Qualifications: * * Bachelor's degree in education, a relevant subject area, or a related field.
* Teaching certification or relevant experience in education.
* Previous experience in providing academic support or enrichment programs.
* Strong knowledge of curriculum development and educational best practices.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*Preferred Skills: * Familiarity with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) concepts and competencies.
Experience in developing and implementing mentorship and leadership programs.
Knowledge of diverse teaching methods and strategies.
Ability to adapt to the needs and feedback of students and parents.
Job Type: Part-time Pay: $17.
