Believe in the Change! SUMMARY This position is principally responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the district to implement better business practices.
Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the Sr.
Executive Director of District Operations ensures that the business operations are efficient and effective.
Ultimately, this district leader will drive operational results that support our overall goal of achieving increased student achievement while providing leadership, management, and vision to help the district grow.
In complement with the Superintendent’s instructional oversight and outward-facing responsibilities for the district, the Sr.
Executive Director of District Operations will design operations strategies, identify deficiencies in existing procedures, and direct the implementation of processes leading to a solution, while also ensuring that new operational policies are executed effectively across the organization.
Providing oversight of the district’s business operations functions will enable school leaders to focus their time on supporting teaching and learning in the classroom.
By working closely with the Business Office, the Sr.
Executive Director of District Operations will lead the alignment of all aspects of the district’s operational portfolio, including Facilities, Cereal City Science, and the Outdoor Education Center.
POSITION SUPERVISES [is responsible for] Facilities Cereal City Science Outdoor Education Center DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provides leadership and direction to operational [non-instructional] departments to ensure alignment and attainment of strategic plan goals and objectives.
Responsible for leading the redesign of operational systems that may hinder instructional success.
Responsible for/oversee Facilities, Cereal City Science, the Outdoor Education Center to ensure seamless operation in support of district success.
Oversees innovation and transformation of the operations side of the district [people, processes, technology].
Supports the Superintendent in the continuous review and revision of the district’s strategic plan and in concurrent efforts to measure progress toward its attainment.
Assumes leadership role on the senior staff [Cabinet]; assist with long range strategic planning; assist with developing system wide budget, plans, policies and activities; perform various duties assigned by the Superintendent.
Provides advice regarding the appropriate use of all business operational resources of the district; recommends changes in policy and practice.
Recommends to the Superintendent a district-wide facilities program including construction, refurbishing, land acquisition, financing, and cost controls.
Leads the strategic monitoring, analysis, and reporting of system-wide operational data; engagement and collaboration with government, community, business and higher education partners; and effective and timely communication of information through innovative and varied approaches.
Oversees and directs a broad range of high-level projects including design, development,coordination and implementation of operational plans, strategic planning, select programs and policies to help attain institutional goals, activities and monitor and evaluate impact and outcomes.
Participates in key constituent meetings to ensure appropriate and responsive follow-up and accountability and facilitates resolution of matters requiring the Sr.
Executive Director of District Operations.
Evaluates staff as assigned by the Superintendent.
Assigns daily assignments to district staff as directed by the Superintendent.
Supports assessment and tracking of progress towards strategic plan goal achievement and implementation to achieve strategic plan objectives.
May prepare agenda for and chair the executive committees in the absence of the Superintendent.
Recommends development, administration and evaluation of districts policies and procedures that assists staff in the operation of the school division.
Represents and acts on behalf of the Superintendent as directed.
Meets regularly with and advises the Superintendent of unusual trends or problems and recommends appropriate corrective action.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree required.
Strongly prefer a Master’s degree and at least 10 years’ experience in business, education management or local government administration; or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the knowledge, abilities and skills stated above.
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience Experience in an urban school district and/or a multi-cultural environment is preferred.
Knowledge of data collection and computer skills including Microsoft Office suite; Google Suite KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strategic planning skills to support the district’s efforts to effect change in a multicultural environment Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment with students, faculty and staff Thorough knowledge of the basic principles of organization, financial administration, operations analysis and personnel administration Thorough knowledge of the objectives and practices of the various administrative functions in business/government Ability to analyze a variety of administrative problems, make recommendations for their solution and to put recommendations into practice Ability to carry out brief general instructions of a superior effectively and to institute projects and studies on own initiative Ability to present facts and express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, departmental personnel and the general public Experience with contract negotiations Knowledge of techniques and strategies for managing a large, diverse organization Knowledge of overall administrative practices and procedures of a K-12 school district and general school administration Knowledge of policies and regulations governing the school division for local, state, and federal entities Knowledge of the district’s strategic plan Knowledge of school level administrative practices and procedures Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent organization skills Ability to provide leadership and direction in the administrative and non-instructional functions of the school district Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, administrators, teachers, classified and support staff SCHOOL SAFETY CLEARANCE The successful candidate will be subject to a fingerprint and background check as a condition of employment.
