Michigan Trucking Association (MTA) is seeking a qualified Skid Pad Training Instructor to join our team.
This is a full-time, competitive, salaried position with an excellent medical, dental, 401(k) and vacation package.
*Overview:*
As a Skid Pad Training Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering classroom instruction and skid pad training exercises to commercial motor vehicle drivers, on site three days a week at Eaton Proving Grounds (EPG) in Marshall, MI while spending two office days at the MTA Lansing office.
*Duties:*
Conduct training sessions in a classroom setting.
Conduct hands-on emergency maneuvers on a drive track.
Maintain tractor/trailers:
* Oil
* Washer fluid
* Safety straps
* UTV upkeep
* Fueling equipment
* Additional items as needed.
Work with EPG facilities staff as needed.
*Requirements:*
Ability to work outside in rain, snow, wind, and heat.
Ability to work on a wet and slippery surface.
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
Ability to climb on or under tractor/trailers.
Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with current DOT medical card.
High school diploma or equivalent; some training experience preferred.
*Experience:*
Proven experience as a Training Instructor or similar role.
Strong knowledge of commercial motor vehicle operations, rules, and regulations.
Excellent presentation and communication skills.
Proficient in using training multimedia tools and technology.
Two or more years of safety management experience; Safety Director experience preferred.
