The district comprises six school buildings, four K-4 elementary schools, one 5-8 middle school, and one high school.
SUMMARY The Spanish Parent Liaison facilitates access of EL (English Learners) students and families to district programs and services in compliance with state and/or federal requirements; conveying information regarding school and/or district activities and procedures to EL (English Learners) students and families; assisting with families’ requests and/or concerns; and referral to other agencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Assists EL (English Learners) students and families in locating community resources for the purpose of promoting parent effectiveness and student achievement Assists with the organization and implementation of events and activities for the purpose of promoting parent involvement Conveys parents’ questions and concerns to appropriate school staff for the purpose of supporting student success Interprets and translates information (e.
g.
school closures, locations, hours, etc.
) for the purpose of assisting in the communication between EL (English Learners) students, families, and school staff and assisting the students and their families incompletion of required forms Prepares written materials (e.
g.
reports, memorandums, letters, etc.
) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information Supports assigned administrative personnel for the purpose of providing assistance with their administrative functions Translates written and/or verbal communications (e.
g.
telephone calls, notes, bulletins, progress reports, etc.
) for the purpose of keeping parents informed of matters concerning the education of their children and informing them of and district and school sponsored events and activities Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School diploma required Field experience and/or post-secondary credits in translating the Spanish language is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Must be fluent in speaking and writing Spanish, as well as English Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation Ability to translate Spanish into English and vice versa Ability to speak clearly and concisely Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with students, parents, employees, and the public Regular dependable attendance is a critical performance factor to ensure consistent, high quality student services Strong organization skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office products Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups Ability to work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize specific, job-related equipment In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work priorities Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to meet deadlines and schedules Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS This position requires a valid Driver’s License in order to transport between district buildings as necessary.
Compensation Package: Annual Salary Schedule is $43,614.
07 - $48,460.
08 and is combined with a comprehensive fringe benefit package that will be offered to the successful applicant.
